CloudBerry, Postgres for AI at Petabyte Scale
Many moons ago (2003) there was a product released called Greenplum. It was based on an ancient version of our beloved PostgreSQL and it was closed source. That company and product were acquired by EMC in 2010.
Starting in 2012, its database management system software became known as the Pivotal Greenplum Database sold through Pivotal Software. Pivotal open sourced the core engine and continued its development by the Greenplum Database open source community and Pivotal. [1]
tl;dr; Greenplum has been kicked around a lot, is now closed source and being developed for the upper echelon of world wide companies by Broadcom.
All it not lost however, a new gladiator has emerged and this time, they are trying to do it right. A true Open Source project incubating at the Apache Software Foundation, we would like to introduce Cloudberry and we are excited to bring you a free live event to learn about this quickly developing and mature solution to true big data needs in today’s every changing analytics, AI market.
