A new NPO and a recap
We want to first congratulate Prairie Postgres for becoming a 501c3. It is great to see more non profits in the Postgres space. We wish them absolute success.
Last week Postgres Conference 2025 in Orlando kicked off. It was a little smaller than our 2024 conference and that’s perfect. We have been putting a lot of energy into finding the right size, and refined purpose. We leaned hard into the People of People, Postgres, Data this year and think that is the direction of the future.
Postgres is awesome and will always be one of the three pillars but without investment in People, Postgres is pointless. That is why we had Certified Wellness Coaches at the event. Beyond our fantastic technical content and solid training opportunities, there was the ability to center yourself.
There is just something about the conversations here, they are just different, deeper than other Postgres conferences.
That was a pervasive message throughout the gathering and allowed us to recognize the true value of the conference, people. With that said the organizers have decided that we are going to cap our attendance from now on. We are no longer looking to be a “big” conference. We want to be the “effective” conference and that requires an concentration on quality.
I have learned from this workshop, I have tools I can apply to problems I have been facing.
Imagine coming away from a Postgres Conference not only with better tools for Replication, High Availability or Performance but also tools that invest in yourself to have a better life? That is our mission now.

I was there, it was my first Postgres conference. Learned a lot, met some good folks, and I thought the size was perfect. Looking forward to attending in the future.
